Software
Zentific is a browser-based management interface for clusters of virtual machines running on the open-source Xen® hypervisor. In the spirit of the open-source projects which have made Zentific possible, the application will be released to the community.
To ensure that Zentific maintains a high level of reliability, security, and ease of use, we will also be offering a supported version for commercial use.
Additional details shall be forthcoming as we near launch. Please visit the Screenshot Gallery for snapshots of the program as we develop it.
Features
Zentific has a great number of useful features. The list appearing below indicates those facets of Zentific which will be available in the first release. This list remains in flux, so check back regularly.
- Basic virtual machine management (Start, Stop, Pause, etc)
- Finely grained role based privileges and user management.
- Multiple authentication options (local, LDAP/AD, etc).
- Cluster friendly, capable of managing hundreds of virtual machines with as many users.
- Highly abstracted from host physical machines (non-invasive with very few dependencies).
- Manage by individual virtual machine or by virtual machine groups.
- Scheduled tasks per virtual machine or group of virtual machines.
- Distribution agnostic - installs easily in all variants of linux.
- Encrypted and secure; all communication channels from physical machine to management server to client are encrypted using industry standards.
- Virtual machine templating and provisioning: configure once, deploy many times
- Detailed statistics gathering over time, providing an activity profile for every virtual machine and increasing ease of resource management.
- Networking configuration (vlans, bridged, host-only bridge, NAT LAN)
- Transport via XML-RPC with an API permitting extensions, customization, and integration with existing infrastructure.
- Template support for the frontend GUI for easy rebranding.
- Tentative support for the conversion of VMWare virtual machines to xen
